On 11 April 2022, the Senate Electoral Tribunal commemorated its 67th Founding Anniversary. With the easing of health restrictions, a simple yet memorable in-person celebration was held to mark this momentous occasion.

The event started with the blessing of the new Secretariat office at the 6th Floor of the Sugar Center Building in Quezon City. Notably, this new location, which  houses all the offices of the various service groups as well as the Library, Clinic, Chairperson’s office, and meeting rooms, makes it more accessible to more than 80% of the Secretariat employees.

Led by the Chairperson of the Tribunal, Senior Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas-Bernabe, the ribbon-cutting ceremony formally welcomed the guests, who included Supreme Court Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa, to a photo exhibit showcasing the various Tribunal programs and projects throughout the years.

Thereafter, a Eucharistic Celebration was held at the Social Hall of the Sugar Center Building.  A heartwarming message from the Secretary of the Tribunal, Atty. Crisanta V. Valera, greeted the excited audience.  This was followed by a special song number by Ms. Doris T. Alcala and an audio-visual presentation featuring past Tribunal activities. The Guest of Honor was warmly introduced by Atty. Eleanor S. Francisco-Anunciacion, Deputy Secretary of the Tribunal.

The message of the Honorable Senior Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas-Bernabe was the highlight of the program. Significantly, this was the first and last chance of the Secretariat employees to personally meet and greet their beloved Tribunal Chairperson due to the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, and her retirement in May 2022.

In her message, Senior Associate Justice Perlas-Bernabe commended the hardworking men and women of the agency for their dedication and commitment.  Those words not only inspired the employees to work even harder, but also motivated them to rise to the challenge for a more successful Senate Electoral Tribunal.
