On July 11, 2024, the Secretariat conducted a half-day seminar on health and wellness, highlighting the dual role of locally available nutritious plants as both healthful food and powerful medicinal resources.

Dr. Susana M. Balingit served as the lecturer for this seminar. A dedicated advocate for sustainable local produce and nutritious foods, Dr. Balingit emphasized the importance of “rediscovering” Indigenous Knowledge and Practices (IKP) that can enhance health and wellness while preventing diseases. She shared valuable insights into the therapeutic benefits of various plants, focusing on their nutritional value and medicinal applications.

By learning about the immense value of incorporating local produce into their diets, the participants were inspired to make informed choices that benefit their health and overall well-being.
