Senator Camille A. Villar (b. January 25, 1985) is currently the youngest member of the Philippine Senate, serving in the 20th Congress. Her career in public service began in 2019 when she was elected Representative of the Lone District of Las Piñas City, completing two consecutive terms and later becoming one of the youngest Deputy Speakers in the House of Representatives.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Ateneo de Manila University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.

In the Senate, she leads as Chairperson of the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, while serving as Vice Chairperson of both the Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement and the Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation and Futures Thinking. She is also an active member of major committees, including Finance, Foreign Relations, National Defense and Security, Peace, Unification and Reconciliation, Tourism, Labor and Employment, Human Resources Development, and Public Works.

During her time in the House of Representatives, she was instrumental in the passage of key legislation, among them the No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act (Republic Act No. 11984), the Early Childhood Care Development System Act (Republic Act No. 12199), the Anti-Agricultural Sabotage Act (Republic Act No. 12022), the Inclusive Education Act (Republic Act No. 11650), and the Extended Producer Responsibility Act (Republic Act No. 11898), which promotes sustainability through plastic waste reduction. She also advanced bills on online consumer protection, senior citizen and centenarian benefits, and food waste reduction.

Her legislative agenda emphasizes sustainable growth, environmental protection, access to quality healthcare, inclusive education, consumer rights, and support for vulnerable groups such as women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. She likewise pushes measures that safeguard workers’ rights, strengthen housing security, and promote sustainable development.

In pursuit of economic empowerment, Senator Villar launched the NEGOSENSO program, an initiative for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that provides financial literacy training, microfinance support, business planning assistance, and market access—empowering entrepreneurs in underserved communities to establish sustainable livelihoods and bolster local economies.

Her work has been recognized both locally and internationally. In 2022, she was honored with the Government Hero of the Year Award and the Silver Stevie Award for Female Executive of the Year in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand by the Stevie Awards for Women in Business (USA), in recognition of her proactive efforts to deliver public welfare initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, she continues her commitment in the Senate to crafting legislation that is inclusive, forward-looking, and responsive to the needs of all Filipinos.
