On May 06 and 07, 2015, the Secretary, Directors, Acting Directors, Officers-in-Charge and Supervisors of the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) underwent intensive training on Coaching and Mentoring.

SET, being among the first government agencies to adopt and implement the Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS), the training was designed generally to equip the participants with knowledge and skills on Coaching and Mentoring as integral means under the SPMS of improving individual and organizational performance. Specifically, the training brought to fore the difference between Coaching and Mentoring vis-á-vis other learning-helping interventions; the qualities of a good coach and mentor; the Goal – Reality -Options – Warp-Up (GROW) Process Model of Coaching; and the key skills of coaching in the context of improving performance at work.

Facilitated by Ms. Czarina B. Teves, a subject matter expert on Human Resources Management/Development (HRM/D) and Organization Development (OD), the Training on Coaching and Mentoring is a program of the Civil Service Institute (CSI) of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) under its continuing objective to “Shape the Servant-Hero towards Public Service Excellence.”
