Nine (9) new employees of the Senate Electoral Tribunal attended the 1st Gender Sensitivity Orientation for New Employees conducted on 17 October 2016 at the Tribunal Session Hall.

The participants, Rechyl G. Asuncion, Mary Grace F. Belarmino, Darlene B. Cardenas, Neil C. Garay, Ljubo D. Lambino, Roda C. Llena, Benjamin R. Manalastas II, Mei C. Manglicmot and Eloisa L. Marquez, were, from the start, challenged by the Member of the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Executive Committee and Director for Human Resources Management Service Flerida A. Marco, to answer the questions she posed and to make their contribution towards SET’s gender and development mainstreaming effort count.

The participants learned the basic Gender and Development (GAD) concepts and the agency’s GAD mainstreaming efforts from GFPS Execom Member Ms. Eliza V. Amparo and GFPS Technical Working Group Members Ms. Angelina L. Gabat, Atty. Lamberto B. Delleva, Ms. Juana L. Vargas and Mr. Reynaldo A. Luzada, who ably facilitated the orientation through a combination of lecture and activities like drawings, film showing and role-playing for each topic.

In her closing remarks, Chairperson of the GFPS Executive Committee and Secretary of the Tribunal Atty. Irene R. Guevarra reminded the participants that paradigm shift towards gender sensitivity and equality takes time and mindfulness. She stressed the conscious efforts needed to attain genuine gender sensitivity by sharing her own stories on how she applied her GAD learnings in the office, at home and in her community.
